Earlier this week, the development team behind the popular free-to-play Battle Royale mode were forced to delay their latest patch.
Epic Games didn’t provide an exact reason for the switch of Fortnite update dates, only confirming that a major issue had been spotted very late into the development cycle.
Some fans believe that this might have something to do with the new Replay Mode being released on iOS.
Whatever the reason, Epic Games have now confirmed that this issue has now been solved, with a new launch date primed for the 4.2 patch.
“V4.2 is releasing tomorrow, May 16. Downtime begins at 4am ET (08:00 GMT),” a message from Epic Games confirms.
This will be starting at around 9am, BST, leaving the Battle Royale island out of commision.
Players usually see themselves kicked from the game starting 20 minutes beforehand, so everyone should be ready for some disruption.
And while the above message states that Fortnite downtime will start at 8am, due to the region time difference, this will actually start at 9am, BST.
Epic Games have also confirmed that they will be releasing update 4.2 patch notes once downtime begins later today.
And it seems very likely that a new Burst Assault rifle will be included in it.
The new weapon looks set to drop with the upcoming update 4.2 for PS4, Xbox One and Mobile.
Fortnite fans are currently being teased about the new weapon when they log into Battle Royale.
The description for the weapon, which comes in epic and legendary varieties, says it is “coming soon”.
Here’s what the blurb for the new Fortnite weapon says: “Burst through the competition with a new Epic and Legendary rarity assault rifle.”
Datamining efforts have revealed more about the upcoming burst assault rifle.
Stats show the epic version of the weapon can inflict 32 damage and the magazine holds 30 bullets.
While the legendary version can inflict 33 damage and has a better impact rate and quicker reload time.
There will also be some new bug fixes released to help improve the overall quality of the game, some of which can be found below:
